The King of Nowhere: Gay Music Nerd

perhaps because gaga fans are bored with gaga’s half-assed, lazy new show, so they hate on a REAL diva to compensate.

Perhaps you’re onto something… kind of. Not in those exact words, though. Born This Way was quite a successful record last year, and that can’t be taken away from GaGa. However, it certainly did not live up to its financial projections nor many people’s expectations. It ever polarized her fanbase, and she trimmed a lot of the people who were there for the Fame. Also, many people who liked GaGa because she WAS different from Madonna were disappointed when BTW turned out to be her Madonna-era. Maybe it is an insecurity thing. I don’t know. I can certainly say that 99.7% of the hatred spewed at Lady GaGa is because of insecurity that she’s going to somehow usurp Madonna’s legacy, which goes to show that they don’t really think her legacy stands up that well on its own. Sad.

There were legitimate claims from Madonna’s camp against Lady GaGa, but now it’s all just become a flame war.

Madonna’s and Gaga’s fans are equally immature. It is not just the Little Monsters. x

— I agree. I’ve seen a lot coming from both sides. Again, I’m not against differing opinions. But the personal attacks on how people look really bother me. Or that Madonna is too old. Nobody ever said that about Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin. I really dislike Lady GaGa’s persona, faux-branding and entire vibe. But I’m not going to say she’s ugly or fat or chubby or gross or whatever. I just hate her music.

I’ve noticed that since Madonna’s tour has opened, the only negativity is coming from Lady GaGa’s “Little Monsters” fanbase. I didn’t expect them not to react after M decided to sample Born This Way and then chant “She’s Not Me” at the end of it. But it does seem like something Madonna need kind of get the reaction she’s getting now. “She’s old, she’s wrinkly, her arms are too muscly.” These are, in fact, the same arms she could probably kill you with just by tapping you on the shoulder, and I doubt any of these monsters would have the audacity (or the courage) to say it to Madonna’s face.
So, Little Monsters, when will you wake up and realize that this isn’t that serious? It’s cool if you dislike Madonna’s music, and it’s cool if Lady GaGa is your favorite pop star. Whatever. That’s personal preference. But why take it to a personal, mean level?
Here is my question for Little Monsters: Why, if Lady GaGa’s message is entirely about anti-bullying and unity, do Little Monsters devote 95% of their time to verbally assaulting Madonna and Madonna’s fanbase (I have, so far, seen death threats and such lovely as “this granny needs to fucking die already)?

Should I Carry On? Will it Matter When I'm Gone?: Madonna to pay tribute to victim of gay bullying Brandon Bitner on her MDNA World Tour →

On November 5, 2010, fourteen year old Brandon Bitner left his Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa. home during the early morning hours and walked alone, in the cold darkness, over 6 miles to a busy intersection…

i don’t see how people can use AGE as an insult to Madonna. As if growing old is a bad thing? When infact being an AGING starlet proves the starpower… you don’t see many popstars in their 50s still storming the charts, making headlines, selling out tours and breaking records. So bringing up AGE is great because it proves the star power. Bette Davis had a pillow saying Old Age ain’t no place for Sissies. And she had a career from the 20s til her death. That’s star power.

What happened to music?
Spice Girls vs. Pussycat Dolls:
While Nicole Scherzinger has a powerful voice (check her out as Maureen in Rent), it wasn’t until her solo career that she started making fun dance music. Her backup dancers were nothing more than eye candy that could hold a tune. Kind of like autobot. You could replace them all and not notice. In fact, I think they did. Spice Girls stood for individuality, equality and self-respect. If you take away their oversaturation in the accessory and product market, they wrote (yes WROTE) some damn good pop songs. Check out Let Love Lead the Way and then compare it to Buttons. I dare you.
Madonna vs. Lady GaGa
I’ve been over this one a billion times, so I’ll keep this one brief. Lady GaGa is a talented, but arrogant woman who has done nothing except stage for stage copy Madonna’s career handbook. Embarrassing.
Janet Jackson vs. Rihanna
I’m not sure why people compare these two, but that’s how the fans are going to play it, I have to side with my girl J. Rihanna is an airhead with nothing to say, happily singing along to other people’s music while bringing little of her own attitude to the table. And after that Birthday Cake debacle, I’ve lost all respect for her. Meanwhile, Janet has released music about homophobia, AIDS and domestic abuse. You can be a pop star and still have a good message. Take the hint, Rihanna.
Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj
Nicki is another Nicole. She’s talented, she’s pretty, she’s got swag. What she doesn’t have is a message and it’s combined with an attitude that makes me want to smack the shit out of her. Nicki is great, but her raps and her music are not. Roman Reloaded is a major disappointment for those who wanted to hear her spit-fire style, and if she’s going to keep taking shots at Queen B, she better back them up. Beez in the Trap and Starships just aren’t impressing me. She’ll never be the “B-A-D-D-E-S-T chick in the game” like Kim.
Hanson vs. Jonas Brothers
You’re joking right? Band of brothers who write their own songs an play their own instruments? Well, Hanson were and are a lot more creative than their younger counterparts the Jonas Brothers, whose voices are so autotuned, I can’t tell if a robot is singing or not. I think the Jonas Brothers are charming young chaps, but I don’t hear any musicianship outside of glossy production. Hanson are still going strong releasing pop music for an adult audience.
